SERVICES

DRUM TRACKING

I track acoustic drums from my home studio, Danger Room Drum Studio in Nashville, TN.

I will select the drums and cymbals that fit your song best and create the perfect drum part for your project. Depending on your budget, I can send multiple part options and even do revisions to make sure you have exactly what you need on your song. I track between 11 -13 drum mics and can send raw or processed drum files (24 bit and your option of 44.1k or 48k) depending on your specific needs. Click the button below and fill out the '“Quote Request Form” to receive a FREE Custom Quote for your project.

PERCUSSION TRACKING

I can layer as many percussion tracks as you need on your project. I have a great selection of percussion to choose from and a few unique options that I have developed. The sky is the limit. This option can be quoted on it’s own or added to a “Drum Tracking” project quote. Just let me know!

MIDI Drum tracking

If you are wanting a programmed “live” drum part on your project but want the feel and arrangement of a real drummer, look no further. I can track a midi file “drum part” in my home studio and let you choose your own samples to fill it out. I will include a reference file for you as well. Programmed drums on your project, QUICK and EASY!!!

DRUM EDITING

Do you need your drum files edited and time aligned? I generally send my files WITHOUT time editing/aligning to allow the producer to do what they prefer. If you aren’t comfortable doing this on your own you can add it to your quote request.

NOTE: This option is not available on outside drum projects.

Hey everyone, I’m Nate Onstott.

I’m a drummer here in Music City, Nashville TN.

I’ve been playing music most of my life and moved to Nashville to pursue music full time in 2003 and attended Belmont University. Since graduating in 2007, I’ve had many incredible opportunities to perform with some of Nashville’s best artists and record drums on a bunch of great albums. Currently, I am recording drums out of my home studio for all genres of music for artists all around the world.

If you are needing professional drum tracks recorded by an experienced Nashville Drummer with a flair for creativity and consistency, please contact me HERE

Studio Vids

WATCH NATE'S VIDS ON DIFFERENT TOPICS AROUND RECORDING DRUMS IN THE STUDIO.

This is a question I get asked a lot when I post videos or pictures from my touring gigs. And while i've been using drum triggers with my Roland SPD-SX for about five years, it's still a very unknown misunderstood thing. So I decided to make the first of many videos to break down how I use them and the Roland SPD-SX as a tools in my live gigs to recreate the sounds of the record in a live setting. This video is simply showing the types of sounds I use in my gigs in context with the drum mix, and taking them away from the mix to show how the impact the sound. I also solo the triggers to let you hear the sounds without the drums to see what types of sounds can be used.

MIC SHOOTOUTS!

I recently bought these V Beat microphones by sE electronics for my home studio. I was looking for a microphone to use on my toms that had a tighter pattern and less bleed from other sources. I decided to do a side by side shootout with my current tom mics (EV 408 on rack tom and EV 308B on floor tom). Like and Subscribe for more mic shootouts in the future.

Putting my new personal favorite "Snare Top" mic (Beyer Dynamic M201) up against the Gold Standard of drum recording (Shure SM57) They don't seem extremely different to my ears. I prefer the tone of the M201 and it's rejection of HiHat/Cymbal bleed (listen at the end of each example as I crash while the snare mic is soloed) The SM57 is a little "boxier" but cuts pretty well in the mix. Tell me which mic is your favorite for "Snare Top" in the comments!

CYMBALS

Here is a quick video showcasing how incredibly flexible these Zildjian FX Stacks are. There are so many different ways to play them and I don't think anyone is really showing their full potential. And they are dirt cheap and come with a special mount.

Demoing Zildjian Cymbals... 14" K Custom Session Hats & 22" K ride These cymbals have been on my list to purchase for a long time. I needed a 14" HiHat option for the home studio and I've been searching for the perfect "Live Gig" ride for over two years. These cymbals did exactly what I was hoping they would. Also doing something I don't do enough. This video is edited together using a single take of unplanned playing trying out the cymbals for the very first time. No click and no time adjusting. ENJOY!
